The club stand

The 31st Enfield Pageant of Motoring was held during the Spring Bank holiday for 3 days at the Playing Fields, Enfield, Middlesex. The cost of entering the showground was £8 per adult (no concessions), with all proceeds going to the Whitewebbs Motoring Museum in Enfield.

Whilst visitors to the pageant were treated to good weather on the first day, this was certainly not the case on the second and third days when the heavens opened (as they had done the previous year).

The poor weather may have been one reason for the poor attendance when I visited the show on the second day at about 12 noon. However, despite the poor weather, there was lots to enjoy, including a :
Steam engine display.
Various Classic Car Club stands.
A number of displays by the Whitewebbs Museum including a Best of British vehicle display and
an Autojumble and fairground.

There were 4 cars on the club stand on the sunday (see photo's opposite). One of them belonging to Alexander Boucke, who had obviously made the trip from Germany for the show. Also very much in evidence was Morry Cook (who manages the stand for the club) and his son Steve who recently purchased PMJ 398R from Judy Dickson of Banstead in Surrey.

The Autojumble was rather poor this year I thought, but nevertheless bargains were to be had including :
A front panel (price unknown).
Track rod ends (£10)
Petrol pump (£2 and £3 each).
Engine mountings (various prices).

Whilst visiting the Autojumble, I noticed quite a few empty pitches which had obviously not been occupied. Whilst the weather may have played a part, I suspect that this lack of enthusiasm by autojumblers was the partly the result of the growing importance of internet shopping (and in particular ebay).
