The Bromley Pageant of Motoring 2008 Previous

The club stand.

One of the many cars I saw for sale, was this rather battered looking Wolsey. For details of the price and the vendors telephone number click here. You never know he might still have it for sale.

The Allegro Club stand. As always it attracted a huge contingent of followers, as this picture demonstrates.

The autojumble. There were quite a number of non auto part stands, probably as many as fifty per cent.

These stretched Hummers attracted quite a lot of interest. What their fuel consumption is I dread to think.

Military vehicles were much in evidence as were their owners in full battle dress.

The fair, including a "bungee jump" type ride (2 centre pylons refer).

The 2008 Pageant was held on the 15th June in the grounds of Norman Park in Bromley, Kent.

Despite the cost of entering the pageant (a whopping £12 per person), the show's popularity seems undiminished. People were still queuing to enter the site at 3pm when I decided to leave.

As usual Morry Cook hosted the club stand, aided and abetted by other club members. When I arrived at the stand, at about 12 noon, Morry and his colleagues were doing brisk business. I saw three cars on display.

Elsewhere there were lots to see and do: there was an arena hosting a variety of displays including a motorcycle stunt team, various club and trade stands,
an autojumble, military, truck and bus displays, a variety of competitions held by Auto Glym and
a fair which had amongst other things a bungee jump type ride.

As far as the autojumble was concerned, it was a smallish affair. Far smaller than the one at Enfield. Probably because of the charges made by the organisers. Although there were some Maxi parts on display, they were few and far between.
