This vehicle is owned by Karl-Johnny, from Osterund in Northern Sweden. The picture above was taken on Friday the 20th October 2006, when Ostersund had its first real heavy snow-storm of the winter (30 to 40 cm's). Karl-Johnny claims the Maxi is a superlative winter car, much better than his SAAB 9-5 (or as he prefers to call it, an Opel, with a SAAB badge on it).
Karl-Johnny tells me that the car was first registered in 1975. Its a one-owner 1750, that was bought new from the then Leyland dealer in Ostersund. He says that it has all its original paintwork, is 100% rust free and in mint condition throughout.
Karl-Johnny bought the car in 2006 for KR 6000 (approx GB£450). When he first came across it had lain idle in a barn for 2 years, after its owner had died. Its done 93,000 Kms. The car he says, can only be described as having existed in a time warp and vows to to keep it in that condition.
