Ian Pennick's Maxi's and a rare "Wedge"

Here is my pride and joy …... LPU 457J (see first photo). She hasn't been seen on the Maxi Club Circuit for some time ....... but rest assured she will be back. LPU is possibly the oldest "Rod Box" Austin Maxi. Registered in November 1970 she has some unique "cross over" rod/ cable change bits … like a cable-change shell and an internal wiring loom..... note how the early 1750's had the same badge as the 1500's.

The second picture shows my recently returned Maxi (TBR 941K) on the Tyne Tees Commercial Run in 2003. I wonder what the two bobbies are chatting about? The Car Transporter in the photo, is owned by George Richardson of Consett and he uses it to move some of his classics around. He's the Transport Manager for Paul Hodgson Transport of West Seekburn in Northumberland. You should see some of their modern transporters.

The third photo shows TBR 941K coming to the rescue of a very rare wedge! Buried underneath all those boxes is an exceptionally rare Princess 2200 HLS. Why … cause it's a Torcars Estate version! Happily its now in the hands of Wedge historian and enthusiast Terry Miller… who hopes to have her back on the road one day! The vehicle was discovered by me quite by accident. I saw it in a car park in Chester-le-Street and promptly put a note under the window. The guy rang me up thinking that I was winding him up! He thought all Princess's had tailgates.

Finally my last photo is of a previous car I had which I restored to pristine condition ... VHN 653M ... an HL which had a rare spanish rose interior. She's photographed here at Toronto! No not the one in Canada ….... but the one on the outskirts of Bishop Auckland, Co. Durham. Not only is the North East home of Toronto, but Quebec, New York, Moscow and Philladelphia.
