Year of registration 1981. Sold to unknown first owner by Howells of Carmarthen (in Wales). Mileage to date 25,000 miles. Current Owner Iain Houghton of Preston, Lancashire.
Iain tells us that he bought the car in April 1993. Although it had done only 15000 miles it was in need of a lot of attention. The previous owner (who had been ill) had left it outside for 5 years next to a barn wall. Iain says that it took him a full 2 years to restore it to its former glory.
This is the fifth Maxi that Iain has owned since passing his test in 1981. Apparently the car has only once let him down when the fan belt broke. His every day car is a 1998 Rover 400 Hatchback which he says cannot begin to touch the Maxi for space and versatility.
Iain only uses the vehicle for shows and the odd day out. He says that whenever he displays the vehicle at a show, people always mention the fact that their parents had one just like it.......... great car.
