Help

16th February 2009

Alan Smith writes: A short time ago I bought a set of swivel hubs, drive shaft, disks & calipers which were supposedly for a Mini, however they are clearly not. The hubs have BTA 363 cast into them along with MOWOG. Are these from a Maxi? Despite searching I am unable to verify where they came from. Thanks in advance.

webmaster: Sorry doesn't ring any bells this end. Can anyone out there in cyber space help this gent? Take a look at the following photos Alan sent me. If you recognise them, let me know and I'll pass your contact details onto Alan.

Hello Austin Maxi Club, Just a few lines to introduce ourselves .... We are a small company (man and wife!) manufacturing one off and low volume classic car accessories. We make a wide range of classic car oddities such as old advertising and dealer stickers, gear knobs, valve caps, made to size resin wheel centre badges, dash lighters, tax disc holders and a few other bits and pieces. We've been in existence for around 5 years, trading on-line from our website and on eBay. We only make what you can't get and we're usually open to requests... Below are direct links to our on-line outlet that might give you a better idea of what we do. Our sticker range is enormous (400+!!!) with a particular leaning towards British Leyland models and it's ever expanding. We can supply an up to date PDF file if required. Our main website is ... www.classiccapsule.co.uk  which provides a direct link to our on-line shop... www.classiccapsule.com  Many thanks for your time and sorry for the unwarranted intrusion. Regards, Basil & Cybil

A question of advertising

27th January 2009

Here are a couple of emails that I recently received, concerning advertising on the club website.

I have a complete Maxi tool kit and the handbooks for the 1750 82' Maxi that I used to own, how would I go about selling them via your website and do you have any idea of what they might be worth? Regards, Gary Turgoose

webmaster: If you want to advertise your handbook and tool kit on the club website, just send me your advert and I'll place both on our site. The service is free.  Don't forget to include in your advert your preferred method of being contacted. It might also be a good idea if you were to say what part of the country you live in. There's no point in attracting would be purchasers from Scotland, if you live in Cornwall. As to value, I'd be surprised if you got very much for either (perhaps £5 to £10). It all depends on whose looking at the site and whether they are desperate to buy either item. Why not begin your advert by saying "For sale .... etc  (without  mentioning  price)" or "Offers are invited......etc"

Mrs Suzanne Guy writes: Do you need to be a member of the Club to advertise on the site? Thank you.

18th January 2009

webmaster: No, you don't have to be a member. If you have an advert for the club website, send it to me and I'll do the biz!. The service is free.

U-tube

26th January 2009

This email comes from U tube nut, Ian Pennick:
Hi Charles, Ian at it again on "YouTube".  Another Maxi meets its demise sadly..  This time in a public information film from around 1980, Can any observant Maxi owner spot the deliberate mistake? Well there's actually two, but I'm really sad:

Birthday

This owner wants to know if anyone can tell him when his car was manufactured:
Hello Webmaster, I have recently taken ownership of a Maxi Reg RSX 529 M, Reg Date; 7/11/73. Is it possible to find the vehicles exact date of manufacture? Regards Andy.

webmaster: The Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon in Warwicks should be able to assist you. Click on the link below for instructions on what to do.
http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/pages/exhibitions/exhibitions_heritage_certificates.html

A quick look at the above page, shows that the centre are now charging for the service you require, which I'm pretty sure they never used to do. Oh well!
