Maximeet 2003
2006 2004 2001 & 2002

The clubs annual get together was held this year at Eden Camp, Malton, North Yorkshire on the 21st September. Once the site of an Italian/ German P.O.W. camp in the 1940’s, Eden Camp is now home to a war museum (www.edencamp.co.uk). Having survived the ravages of time the site's P.O.W. huts are now used to house the museums growing collection of weapons and memorabilia from the Second World war. Each hut describes an aspect of the conflict …...the rise of the NAZI party ……. Hitler…….the outbreak of hostilities ……… Evacuees …….. the blitz ……… the desert campaign …….. the war at sea.

Our man at Eden Camp was Mark Pacey, here's his report.

Hi Charles, it was Maximeet at Eden Camp on Sunday and a good day it was, too. Ten Maxis and two Allegros were on display, with more members visiting without their Maxis. The cars came from as far afield as Bristol, Surrey and Edinburgh, with the prize for furthest travelled going to the Edinburgh contingent, who made the return trip in the day! I didn't see much of Eden Camp itself, but the hut I did see was fascinating and we've marked it down for a future visit.

The run up was a steady run on the motorway to get to Eden Camp for 10am, but we took a more scenic route home that included a wonderful road south from Malton (the B1248).

In the competition - as you can see below - CBW 437V won Best Maxi in Show, with UTT 838J coming second and NVD 914P coming third (although they were all three very good cars). Best non-Maxi was the blue Allegro, YHO 851V (see photo opposite).
